At this year’s International Conference for Bulk Materials Handling (ICBMH), Agilitus’ Shaun Reid, Senior Mechanical Engineer, and Liam Withey, Mechanical Engineer, were among the 85 technical presenters sharing ideas, insights and innovative solutions across bulk materials storage and transportation.
Liam took a deep dive into a case study using coupled DEM–SPH modelling to represent a cohesive tailings material, a non-traditional application of these methods, that provided confidence in the design.
While Shaun explored methods to improve the prediction of bulk material loads on bins and silos, comparing current international standards with custom DEM analysis to motivate continued development of the standards allowing for improved industry outcomes.
“As bulk materials handling is such a central part of what we do, the conference provided a valuable opportunity to highlight our technical capability, discuss the challenges facing the industry, and connect with other industry leaders,” said Shaun.
