Celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Today is the 10th anniversary of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and to celebrate this significant day at Agilitus we asked Fiona Kenyon, our Senior Civil Engineer, what sparked her first interest in STEM.

“I was always interested in maths and science but when I was in year 10 we had a school trip to a Women in Maths and Science event, and it changed everything. Hearing from women in STEM opened my eyes to new possibilities and set me on the path to a career in engineering, and the rest is history.”

Fiona is passionate about teaching kids STEM, volunteering in schools as a professional advocate, creating chaos in classes, and inspiring kids and teachers alike.

Known for breaking down complexity, Fiona is an invaluable mentor to our junior engineers.

At Agilitus we like to support international days as a powerful advocacy tool.

“Let’s help pave a path to STEM careers that women and girls deserve – and our world needs.” – UN Secretary-General António Guterres

Women and girls belong in science, and their inclusion fosters innovation.
