Mount Bevan – Life of Mine

We were engaged to complete the power supply study for the Mount Bevan Project. The proposed mine is isolated from existing power infrastructure and will require a power solution to support its remote operations. Agilitus’ Energy Innovation team assessed the electrical generation options and presented configurations for progression. The design for the initial power supply was developed around gas lateral pipelines fuelling the Mt Bevan power station and the filter plant facilities (near Menzies) from the Northern Goldfields Interconnector and Goldfields Gas Pipeline. Our energy experts completed an assessment of alternative generation options, with natural gas and diesel fired energy solutions considered, along with a mix of renewable energy generation and battery energy storage. From this assessment, two systems have been recommended for further development. Firstly, a natural gas fired power station with supporting renewables and storage to enable minimal thermal generation during daylight hours reducing emission intensity by 30%. The second option incorporates wind turbine generation, solar PV, and battery storage, with supporting diesel generation, enabling 70% emissions reduction and 78% renewable generation which significantly reducing OPEX and Levelised Cost of Energy.
